Qur>aan noncrucifixion of Christ confirmed by New Testame
In the name of >Allaahi, >al-Rah.iym, >al-Rah.maan:--
The account in the glorious Qur>aan that <Iysa> (Jesus) was crucified only in appearance is confirmed in the EPISTLE TO THE PHILIPPIANS 2:7 "made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men", where the words "form" and "likeness" are aequivalent to the word "appearance" in the glorious Qur>aan ... then, these terms "form" and "likeness" (again, in the sense of "appearance") are to be understood (by ellipsis) to apply also to the next verse (2:8) "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Here, the word "fashion" signifieth "appearance" (more plainly, "disguise"); the word "humbled" implieth "dissimulated" (or "feigned"), so that the "death" is only a mock-up illusion of a death. ... The verse praevious (2:6) "being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God" sheweth plainly that <Iysa> did not actually die, seeing that he was aequal with God, and God cannot die.
In order, however, to convict unbelievers of the impiety of claiming that God can die, the appearance of dying was necessary as a ruse, so as to induce blasphemers to say that God had died ["had died", instead of merely "could die", which it would have been less repraehensible to say, and less meriting of damnation], so that they (the blasphemers, who until that point had been merely potential blasphemers) could be condemned to the condign punishment of damnation.
But <Iysa> himself shall return in person to the blasphemous Nas.raanii-s (Christians) into Jahannam (Hell), body and soul, as prophesied in H.adiyt_ [-- Thanks be to >Allaaha, who hath given us the victory through the lord <Iysa> !]
