Science, Creation & EvolutionNoah and the DelugeEvilutionist, you are the one who made an issue over terminology and brought up your roll as an educator not me. As to being civil it seems to me that "civility" includes understanding the purpose of this forum on this message board, which you are totally ignoring. What you want to get over technical about is covered by one phrase in Scripture. This event was a catastrophic event that cannot be explained by slow tectonic plate movements so what you shared as an educator is what is now known but does not address “all the fountains of the deep”. Can science prove that a single catastrophic past event did not initiate tectonic plate movement? A recent 9.0 earthquake caused a tsunami that killed an estimated 175,000 people. What would have been the result of an earthquake of greater magnitude on Pangea when “all the fountains of the great deep burst open”? How high was the tallest mountain on Pangea? How high would a tsunami be if a 12.0 or stronger earthquake caused “all the fountains of the great deep” to burst open? What about a meteor impact with planet earth? There are a multitude of possibilities to explain one phrase found in Scripture to fully explain Noah’s flood since it involved so much more than 40 days of rain. Just as the physics of relativity and quantum mechanics cannot be reconciled neither can the physical sciences be reconciled with the science of anthropology. Can I be civil? Yes I can. I can respect your education and what you have published; I can respect what you do and who you are as a human being as well as a brother in Christ. But I question your motives for choosing this message board over others that have more members and a wider audience on which to "educate" non-scientists. |
