Christian/Muslim ThreadsTRINITY: Are U joking??!!!It seems to me that most of the discussions on this Forum between Christians and Muslims consists of flexing one's theological muscles in order to bolster one's own entrenched position. I think many people actually enjoy the cut and thrust of arguments and they are here only to score points off the 'enemy'. I rarely see any genuine searching for truth and willingness to listen and engage minds.
Hello budin24 Just suppose for the sake of this discussion that Almighty God really did choose to become a human being and he appeared on earth as the man Jesus of Nazareth. If he had said to people "I'm God, so worship me!" explicitly, how do you think people would have reacted? I doubt very much if anyone would have worshipped him. Instead I expect some would have laughed at him, and others would have tried to lock him up as insane, but most would probably have stoned him to death for blasphemy. If he had been executed on the very first day of his mission, he would not have accomplished anything by coming to earth. So don't you think he was wiser to present the evidence of who he was (through his character, teaching, and miracles) and then leave it for people to figure it out for themselves? Don't you think that is far more consistent with the character of God portrayed in the Jewish Scriptures? Speak to the people of Israel, and tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a cord of blue on the tassel of each corner. And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the LORD. (Numbers 15:38-39) Only fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you. (1 Samuel 12:24) Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. (Psalm 1:1-2) "Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD. (Isaiah 1:18) Remember this and stand firm, recall it to mind, you transgressors. (Isaiah 46:8) At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word and understand the vision. (Daniel 9:23) But they do not consider that I remember all their evil. Now their deeds surround them; they are before my face. (Hosea 7:2) Now, therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: Consider your ways. You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. (Haggai 1:5-6) It seems to me that God wants us to use our minds to think and analyse, rather than let him spoon-feed us with information and expect us to swallow it parrot-fashion. |
