ArchivedPriests referred to as FathersDude, come on man, you playin with me right. Did you look at the paragraph that said: Catholics know that as members of a parish, they have been committed to a priest’s spiritual care, thus they have great filial affection for priests and call them "father." Priests, in turn, follow the apostles’ biblical example by referring to members of their flock as "my son" or "my child" (cf. Gal. 4:19; 1 Tim. 1:18; 2 Tim. 2:1; Philem. 10; 1 Pet. 5:13; 1 John 2:1; 3 John 4). That is why, no? That is what Catholics believe. That is what I believe. See the question is why Priest are called "father" when Mat says other wise. The answer is what I posted. Nothing more nothing less. It didn't "miss" anything in our Faith. So what you are saying is that the Catholic Church wants me to say it so that I can think more like a pagan. Bro, you got's to be trippin'!!! So now I am going to goto hell because I called someone father, because of respect for his knoweldge and commitment to Christ, and his role in my parish to serve Christ's people and treat them as his spritual famliy? Come on dog. Think about it? To me you are just knit picking. I would reply again but I am not one to waist time try to argue points at wallls. To be honest, I feel sorry that you spend so much time arguing about my Chruch and not something else more GODly. I usually don't debate but I felt sorry for my Guy Rome being the only Catholic in the house. But I do pray that you find peace with my Chruch, even if you don't become a part of it. May GOD bless you with peace and understanding. In Christ, Romke |
