Animal studies for the benefit of mankind are essential if such studies can improve our society or culture. The use of the sexual practices of animals to show same gender sexual activity is still ludicrous since animals do not have moral values. As to barn cats playing with mice, that is just being a cat, as a cat will play with anything that moves. You can find an exception for all generalities. The fact remains that the majority of animals including the big felines do not kill for pleasure.
Many ever-straights do not understand sexual orientation and stand on ignorance and prejudice by claiming homosexuality is a chosen lifestyle, it is not a conscience choice. However, gay men and lesbian women can choose to leave the lifestyle and thousands have done so with no permanent mental or psychological trauma. In fact the vast majority of ex-gays have successfully changed their sexual orientation totally and completely.
As to morality and homosexuality, there is not a single religious belief or human society that has ever accepted or promoted homosexuality as a viable alternate lifestyle. Many pagan religions did practice phallic worship that included male temple prostitutes and homosexual activity but the practitioners were heterosexuals. Some city states in ancient Greece (especially Sparta) segregated the sexes prior to puberty to develop what they believed to be super soldiers, however, anal and/or oral sex was strictly prohibited and all Spartan men were required to marry and produce offspring. The relationships developed by Spartan warriors made them very fierce on the battlefield as they were protecting a “lover” not defending a city. If you have watched any of the news coverage of the war in progress you probably heard Marines and other US troops report fighting harder to protect their friends even if this meant putting themselves in harms way than this country.
Yes some men are egotistical and vain, and women can choose to ignore our societies emphasis on appearance so don’t blame the male for the insecurities of some women. As to wars being only a male occupation, England reached it greatest extent under Queen Victoria and Catherine the Great of Russia was not a paragon of virtue or human sensibilities. Queen Elizabeth I was just a ruthless a ruler as her father Henry VIII, so the determining factor is not sex, it is power, money, land, prestige, and influence.
You are correct in stating that mankind has moved from a rural home-based animal (if you choose to use this term) to an urban isolationism that is the cause of many of our societal problems. So you are in effect accepting my statement that “taking an animal from its natural environment can cause homosexuality”.
