ArchivedLindabee2s discussion with me on religious topics. :: ReplyReply God created woman not only to help further the human race, but to put an end to man's loneliness and to be his helper in all circumstances. You brought up cases of infertility. Trust me. If God wants a couple to become parents, He will make it happen. Have you ever heard the story of Abraham and Sarah? In Genesis 18:11, it is revealed that they were quite elderly. (In their nineties, I believe.) Yet God saw fit to provide them with a son, whom they named Issac. And what about Abijah and Elizabeth, who were also advanced in years? God allowed Elizabeth to conceive John the Baptist (Luke 1). And of course, there's Mary, whose pregnancy was the most miraculous one of all, because she was a virgin when she conceived Jesus Christ Himself. If God does not allow a couple to conceive, perhaps He wants them to adopt. There are plenty of children who need good, loving, stable and godly homes. Moses was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter (Exodus 2:10), but he was hardly raised in a godly family. However, God allowed Moses to be raised in Egypt because he (Moses) would eventually lead his people out of slavery in Egypt and into Israel, the Promised Land. A modern day adoption story is that of Pastor Travis and his wife. She conceived a child, only to miscarry. But God turned this tragedy into something wonderful. He worked it out so Travis and Loreina could adopt a little boy from Russia. A boy who, coincidentally (?), would have shared the same birthday as Travis and Loreina's miscarried child. It took a while, but eventually, Travis and Loreina were able to adopt the boy and bring him home, naming him Daniel Travis ("God is Judge at the crossroads"). I do not believe God caused the miscarriage, but He did work things out for the better, just as Romans 8:28 says. I'm all for equal treatment of homosexuals in the workplace and as far as insurance pensions, inheritances, and visitation rights are concerned. But I will not be silent when it comes down to children and marriage. Why? Proverbs 22:6 says it all: A child raised by Christian parents will, more often than not, follow Christ as well. Just as a child raised by same-sex parents will most likely come to accept homosexuality and will probably become a homosexual himself/herself. Yes, some people are born homosexual. But to ignore the effect of a person's environment is naive, at best. And I believe that a child deserves the best environment that can be offered. One where they can be taught to love others, despite their differences, and yet be encouraged to hold on to God's truth. I can only hope that I will be the kind of mother who will be able to effectively teach my children that. Now, on to your claim that "faith" does not mean "trust." Here's the definition of "faith," found in my sister's New World Dictionary of the American Language, Second College Edition.
Hey! Nothing wrong with reading the Bible. Although it can be a little repetative at times. (I barely got through Chronicles. LOL) Just point me in the direction of that thread, and I'll be happy to answer as many questions as possible. I don't think so. I think the ones who instigated this debate are the ones who broke the law, like in San Francisco. Christians and other people who support traditional marriage have been forced to take a stand for what we believe in. I can't answer that question. I don't know who you talk to, other than myself and Aineo. LOL |
