Christian/Muslim ThreadsHow Powerful Is God?Hello Casey
I find this subject fascinating. I did my own investigation into it recently and this is what I concluded: Jesus Christ promised his Apostles that the Holy Spirit would come and teach them what he had left unsaid in his earthly ministry. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. (John 14:26) See also: John 16:12-15 Jesus Christ commissioned his Apostles to teach and command with Jesus’ own authority. Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you." (Matthew 20:18-20) See also: Matthew 16:18-19, Luke 10:16, John 15:26-27, 20:21-23 Subsequently the Apostles claimed to speak with Jesus’ own authority. We impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God ... These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. ... We have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit." (1 Corinthians 2:7-13) See also: Acts 13:44-47, 22:14-15, 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, 13:10, Galatians 1:1, 1 Thessalonians 4:2, 1 Timothy 1:11, Titus 1:1-3, Hebrews 2:3-4, 1 Peter 1:12, 1 John 1:1-5, Revelation 1:1-2 The Apostles claimed that their preaching and writings were the Word of God. I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached by me is not man's gospel. For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:11-12) We also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. (1 Thessalonians 2:13) If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. (1 Corinthians 14:37) See also: Acts 4:29, 15:28, 20:27, 1 Corinthians 4:1, Ephesians 3:1-10, Colossians 1:25, 1 Peter 1:23-25, 2 Peter 3:15-16, Revelation 1:11, 10:8-11, 22:6-20 What do you think, Casey? |
