Homosexual Discussion ForumSlavery and HomosexualityThe relationships were obviously NOT the norm and the obvious reasons are twofold. Homosexuality is still a small percentage of the average human sexual orientation, and at that time people following the Old Testament faithfully, would have KILLED anyone displaying their homosexuality. Now that secular governments have protected people from religious judgement, it's safe to come out. This isn't hard to understand. Who's "We"? This is appropriate to say to a fundamentalist Christian, but it's not applicable to people who are NOT. Consequently, there is no justification for forcing others to believe this and act accordingly. If the desires of the flesh are something natural, then they were part of God's creation if you believe in him. If it was SO important to not enjoy sex for other than a function of procreation, then why make it pleasurable? God being all powerful could have made it as bland as shaking hands. People wanting children would still have chosen to do it for procreation. Again. Unsubstantiated belief. You can believe this if you want, but you don't have the right to force others to and dictate how they live their life. It's pretty hard to NOT choose to walk in the flesh unless you suicide. Well what a wonderful cop out to logic being applied to religious scripture. If you don't understand the verses presented and fail to find an interpretation that explains away what doesn't make sense or is contradictory, then the nebulous concept of "spiritual matters" is introduced since it's something that is impossible to comment on directly since you can't verify it. Another way of saying that you have to believe in order to understand, but there is no way to explain HOW you understand because the belief alone will magically do it's wonders. They can stand on their own. There is nothing before of after these that can refute that these are direct contradictions. To pretend otherwise is ignoring common sense. The only possible excuse to this is poor translation into english. But then you have to prove where the REAL verse is. Oh but the fact Jesus said that your thoughts WERE like deeds is now irrelevant when applied to God? He's not to be held to the same standard? If the THOUGHT of doing evil which is exactly what that sentence said, then according to Jesus he had commited evil or "sinned" to be more specific to his comment. This is another great example of how contradictions are quite clearly seen in the Bible. At least Catholics agree that scripture is not infallible. It makes them a lot more credible. So now you presume to read the mind of God and speak for his motives? Who brought up Moses? The quote I gave was a reference in Genesis, and it was the words of JACOB. So this does not refute it. |
