ArchivedPA officials guilty of blatant violation of First AmendmentHon, I know that you truly believe that you are being caring from your viewpoint. I don't dispute that. But the idea that you really have the right of the " truth about the consequences of the homosexual lifestyle", is where I have an issue with. Your belief that it is wrong is simply that, a BELIEF. I'm not going to ruin my life by blindly accepting a viewpoint that I cannot accept as being truth. I have the right to be happy! To be happy, I need to have the right to live my life with my partner of four years in a proper relationship encompassing love, sexuality, and all of the things that make a loving relationship fulfilling. I could never have that with a partner of the opposite sex that I have no true attraction to as a mate. Consequently, an unsupported position that my natural desire to be with someone of the same gender as my loving spouse, is not going to convince me that it is wrong. It's not wrong in a any way to me. So if God truly exists, and he is EXACTLY the same God you interpret as the scriptures say, (although the contradictions in many passages would make it very difficult to completely resolve), then I would think he'd be a horrible God. It would be terribly cruel to condemn someone to a life of desiring something they could never express for no reason other than the lottery draw of how you were born. IF the concept of reincarnation was introduced you could even fashion an argument as to the temporary necessity of what you had to endure and learn, but since one life, one shot is the accepted belief in Christianity, I can't imagine how the justification could possibly be argued. Then it's a shame that the emphasis is put ona certain few specific passages that go side by side with other quotes that are deemed no longer applicable according to the "current" interpretation of scripture. Some Christians throgh the ages have proposed that killing heretics and other cultures that are heathens is perfectly moral, yet something as beautiful as love is sulllied by the genders involved. If love is everything, how can the natural evocation of such between people be condemned so vociferously? Why is it even there as a possibility if God considers it to be wrong? If you REALLY want to get into semantics, why would God even permit this kind of desire if it was something he could prevent? The Chrisitian religions describe God as all loving, and all powerful. Why even allow the POSSIBILITY of this supposed "opposition" to his approval? I can think of many things in reality that is not currently possible, like the ability to fly. How about the ability to teleport people from one spot to 5000 miles away? These are all things that cannot be done because the laws of nature simply haven't been DESIGNED to be possible as a method. If God is the be all, and end all, why even ALLOW the possibility of same-sex attraction? Is it NECESSARY? Truly, THINK about this and ponder on why this would be something to be questioned. Yes, and I wish that you could see that if you truly understood that being gay, and living fully as a gay person is going to lead to the discrepancy of the "lifestyle" label you want to use. I don't believe you HATE homosexuals. That's an extremely strong word. But you believe you have a right to be judgemental about anything that is concerning same-sex sexuality. I don't. And I'll argue strongly that the Bible is not inerrant, and therefore not to be unquestionably believed as solid truth. Going to bed. I'll continue later. |
