Trinity DebateTrinity debate"He existed in the form of God"... This is talking about when Jesus existed as a man on earth not a pre-eternal existance as a Spirit Son. As Spirit the ONE God had no beginning (Father) but as a man He did have a beginning (Son). Like I stated before a "father" pre-exists a "son". Therefore to say Jesus pre-existed as a Spirit Son is to say He was a created Being and not a co-eternal Deity as the Father. The Father would have to be pre-existant to the Son in the Spirit realm thus contradicting the concept of the Trinity. Notice the verse states Jesus existed "in the form of God". What form was it? The form of a man which is exactly what I have been stating in several of my posts and on several threads. "did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but He empitied Himself"... This simply states that God in human form (Son) submitted Himself while in that form to the omnipresent Spirit (Father). As I have explained numerous times whatever form or manifestation God took on whether "Angel of the Lord" (O.T.) or a man (N.T.) that form was fully God except in visible, reduced form. In the form of man, God could have easily exercised His full Deity but instead "humbled" Himself in that form. Your explanation for an omnipresent Spirit Son to have empted Himself fully to become human is impossible as it violates the attribute of being omnipresent. There are certain things God cannot do: 1. He cannot lie and 2. He as omnipresent Spirit cannot be confined or put in a box whether that "box" is the Holiest of Holies in the Temple or in a human body (Son) without also existing outside filling the universe. Therefore, according to your explanation the Son if He pre-existed as Spirit was not omnipresent thus was and is a lesser or "junior" God. The Oneness doctrine exalts Jesus and your Trinity degrades Him. "God highly exalted Him"... Who did God exalt? He exalted the Son who was born of the virgin Mary not a pre-existant Spirit Son. If the Son was a co-equal and co-eternal Spirit then how could He be any further exalted? As God He is already Almighty, has all power and authority, and holds all glory. How could God exalt another God who was already His equal? So who was the Son that God exalted. It was the human form of Himself that was first "humbled" and then after accomplishing His mission on earth in that form He was "exalted". It is curious to me that you quoted verses 9 and 10 in light of your comments on another thread: Indeed, Jesus is the name above every name and yet you, Aineo, have plainly stated in my thread "FEW WERE SAVED BY WATER" that the name of Jesus is a fabricated name for Joshua and has no spiritual significance. I invite every here to view the evil that has been spoken against the glorious name of Jesus in that thread by Aineo. And indeed again, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord - not the name"Jehovah" nor the name of "Yahweh" but the name of Jesus, period. "If God is an "'image'" then God has broken His own Law?" So now your're calling God a liar? Is there no limit to the depths of your vanity? "[Jesus] Who being the brightness of His [the Father's] glory, and the express image of His [the Father's] person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high." (Hebrews 1:3) "...Christ, who is the image of God..." (2 Cor 4:4) "[the Son] Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature" (Col 1:15) Note: "sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high"... : This does not mean Jesus sat down next to another person in a trinity. "Right Hand" is a figure of speech denoting supreme authority. What we have then is the once invisible God now in visible form operating in that position of authority. To summarize, the invisible God (the ONE omnipresent Spirit) has taken on the visible form (Son) on an ongoing basis. So what we now have then is the invisible form co-existing with the visible form at the same time. There is no need for God as omnipresent Spirit to have two other co-Gods to do this. He is an unlimited God and He is God alone. There was no God formed before Him neither shall there be after Him and beside Him there is no other Savior. |
