Trinity DebateTrinity debateDear Omega, The issue of contention between Oneness and Trinity is this: According to the Trinity the Son, Jesus pre-existed with the Father and the Holy Ghost as co-eternal and co-equal as separate persons as God. In what form then did the Son pre-exist? As a Spirit like the Father and Holy Ghost, correct? As a Spirit who is co-equal with the Father, the Son would then share the attribute of being omnipresent with the Father, correct? King Soloman explained the ominpresent attribute of God in 1Kings 8:27: "But will God indeed dwell on earth? Behold the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?" Soloman recognized that in His essence as omnipresent Spirit, God was bigger than the universe He had created. Before creation He dwelt alone in indescribable power and glory with Himself without a beginning. Since God as omnipresent Spirit would be bigger than creation itself He desired to find a way to come inside what He would make and be part of it. So what happened when the presense of God was in the temple's holiest of holies? The presense of God was fully there but also present elsewhere filling the universe and beyond at the same time. What Soloman then meant by "will God indeed dwell on earth" was simply God could not be limited as being present in one place at a time as a limited Being. Otherwise He would not be omnipresent and thus would be a limited Being. Having said that now lets look at the case of the Son. In the Trinity, the Son pre-existed as omnipresent Spirit with the other two. So what happened when the Son became flesh and dwelt among us? The pre-existent Spirit of the Son became a man thus God manifest in the flesh, correct? Now what we have here is a Spirit becoming a man. The only difference in this case between Oneness and Trinity is; Oneness says only ONE omnipresent Spirit manifested as a man and Trinity says a second omnipresent Spirit manifested as a man. So tell me why would God as omnipresent Spirit need another omnipresent Spirit to help Him out? And what happened to the omnipresent Son when the Son was on earth as a man? Was the pre-existed Spirit of the Son sitting on a throne as an incapacitated mindless vegetable Spirit because all His will, personality, and identity left Him to be on the earth as a man? Or did the pre-existed Spirit of the Son fully become a man? If the full Spirit of the Son all became a man, then He would not be omnipresent like the Father thus a limited Being or some type of "junior" God less in power and attributes to the other two. We both agree and believe that an omnipresent Spirit whether it be the pre-existed Son or simply the ONE omnipresent Spirit came to earth as God in the flesh. When God became a man, Jesus as a man had the full will and personality as any individual would have but in a dual nature. He was the Son of God and the Son of Man together at the same time. To be a "Son" He would have to have a Father that pre-existed Him. My daddy pre-existed me and your daddy pre-existed you. Just as Jesus's Father pre-existed Him as omnipresent Spirit thus the Son did not exist until Mary conceived by the overshadowing of the Spirit of God. That is why Jesus could make the statement that Himself as a man could be a witness with His Father the Spirit because God was existing as both a man on earth and a Spirit in heaven at the same time. They were not separate co-eternal Gods but ONE God existing as a Spirit and as a man at the same time. That is why Jesus said the Father was in Him but yet the Father was still in heaven. The Father was in the body of Jesus which made Jesus Deity as God but the body of Jesus also made Him fully man. The only issue is not understanding the dual nature of Jesus Christ. The Trinity has divided the dual nature of Jesus Christ into separate persons because of lack of understanding. And this lack of understanding has compounded into using the incorrect baptismal formula thus denying the name of Jesus as well. So now we have most of the Church having been stripped of the name of Jesus and thus reduced to the position of a shorn Samson. When you pray, Omega do you pray in the name of Jesus or do you pray saying the titles Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? |
