Science, Creation & EvolutionSomething for Tuppence: Science definedThis statement is not always true, even in science. The constancy of the speed of light is one area that science does not want to question. Microevolution can be observed, however macroevolution is theorized based on assumptions seen in microevolution. Some creationists (other than the lunatic fringe) have a hypothesis that the speed of light has decreased over time. These scientists have the data to back up this hypothesis but it is a hypothesis that is dismissed out of hand because all the nice formulae used in generally accepted "theories" fall apart if c is not constant. Science has benefited the human race but when science starts defining variables as constants then the true search for knowledge is replaced by ego. BTW, the definition of science has changed over the last 50 years. When I was taking science classes evolution was a "theory" still in need of proof; proof that has yet to be furnished by evolutionary biology. |
