Trinity DebateTrinity debateBradtheimpaler, I was being sarcastic with that metaphysical thing. The real problem with your wrangling about semantics and your appeal to what the Jews believed in the OT is the fact the Jews rejected the OT prophecies concerning the suffering Messiah. What mystery was hidden from the Jews "until the fulness of the Gentiles has come in"? When Jesus said "before Abraham was I AM" the Jews understood Jesus was claiming equality with God. Regardless of your wrangling over words the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct persons in the NT. 3 personalities or persons with one nature and one goal. Now, what none of you non-Trinitarian have been able to show is why the NT authors divided the Godhead into 3 and referred to them with 3 distinct names, namely the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. If Peter and Paul viewed Jesus as the name of God then it is ludicrous for them to use Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in lieu of Jesus througout the NT. You appeal to logic and then toss common sense out of the window. |
