Child Molestation is a Sin!what right does anybody have to call it a sinIf I posted misinformation then quote and rebut them step by step. It's impossible to defend myself without such a specific rebuttal. You were just giving me hell for saying I can present many stories about people that WERE hurt by the ex-gay movement, and then you turn around and say the same thing in reverse. Listing your personal experience as a source. So we can both be right. The question is, is it more LIKELY to be hurtful than helpful, and is there any true reason to consider it more beneficial to change to heterosexuality? Those are the true questions. How can you even suggest you know the sources of what I am referring to? You never asked! In any event never mind that then. Since you are setting yourself up as a knowledgeable person in this regard, tell me. What are the statistics of these organizations and their results? How long is the follow up? Do they have a questionnaire that asks whether there were benefits or harm resulting from the program? Anything at all to show objective evidence in favour of these programs? Lets start there. This way you can educate me on the wisdow of going down this road. I was paraphrasing to put it in simple language. I understand your distinction, but the "hate the sin, love the sinner" thing is not something I think is applicable. I AM gay, and for me to express myself fully I must do things that are homosexual in nature. I would be denying a major part of me as a person to follow Chrisitianities current emphasis on refraining from ever truly living life as a sexual and romantically loving person. It's not an agenda. I'm simply bringing up different points that are popping in my head as arguments against accepting the Bible as inerrant truth. If the Bible can't be proved inerrant, than by default any and all sentences in that book COULD be wrong, mistranslated, or simply mistakes. As to the rest of the post, I'll be back when I get help from other people that DO know the Bible well and see how they would respond. I'm admittedly not an in depth scholar on it, even though I DID read through the whole thing once. This is an interesting argument however, because it's relatively new to me. I don't recall this specific one being made before, and I want to see if it REALLY holds up. Because it just seems incredibly convenient to explain why certain passages can now be ignored (at least as Gentiles), while others are not. So until I get information I feel will truly be in depth against this type of argument, I'll leave it alone. |
