Ask any Israeli what the word for the NUMERAL ONE is. Ask them to hold up the necessary amount of fingers to display "echad" and see how many they hold up. Then try to tell them that the number one (echad) is not an absolute one, but a "compound one" (whatever that is) and find yourself laughed out of any Jerusalem kindergarten class. Last time I looked, echad was Hebrew, not Greek? If you at least believe that the OT is the foundation, you shouldn't be trying to alter the meaning of OT language to support your (supposed) NT doctrine. |
