Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesMormon - Americas prophetAs I've said, its all a matter of perspective. Rome would probably say the above comments about Christadelphians because he and most of you believe my beliefs to be extremist or false. You may also be under the false impression there is some kind of hierarchy and we all follow one leader - which would be wrong because no such authoritarian system exists within the group known as "the Christadelphians". Likewise, I could say, based on my beliefs that Rome is a member of a cult by the definition provided, since I regard his beliefs as extremely wrong and astray from the Bible, plus he's under the authority of an authoritarian leader - the Pope. But yeah, as I've said, its all a matter of perspective, especially if you use the definition provided by Aineo. To be honest, I wouldnt normally call any religion a cult since it is often taken the wrong way and this sort of speech is not a type of speech which Christ would condone - the Bible clearly condemns being abusive to one another - so I apologise for my first comment made in this thread. I think another thing is that its kind of a "power thing". Once people start saying they dont believe the Trinity etc ... the whole mood of the discussion can be changed by someone saying "ah, so youre in a cult then". Its no longer a discussion, its a fight. Whats particularly noticable is that this "power grabbing" - people using the word cult in the hope they can swing the discussion in their favour - becomes noticably silly, especially when you have one person out of the three saying "I believe you're a cult!", the other says "you're both in a cult" and the third person says "you're both in a cult too". By their own definitions of cult they may be right, but what has it achieved? Nothing - just an angrier discussion containing three people who each believe the other 2 to be "cultists". I think among the midst of all these discussions we forget that underneath the handle of "Rome Sweet Home" there is a real person. Same with "Aineo". And likewise, there is a real living breathing human being called Dave Hudson who lives in Birmingham, UK who has exactly the same struggles against sin that Rome and Aineo each have. I dont think that being abusive to each other is beneficial or Christ like since it can be degrading right to the core of who we ultimately are - human beings. So lets hug and make up and tell each other a bit about each other. Perhaps it would clear up a lot of the anger shown in this and other threads. Rome, would you like to start? I'm not going to right now as I'm shattered and need sleep ready for me going in to University tomorrow. But maybe tomorrow. I hope you take this in the spirit in which my post is made. Night guys. |
