Computers 101Whats Better Intel or AMD AthlonHi Dove Well that is bloatware basically. My reason for using 64 bit chips does involve being able to address more memory. I have to be truthful, Microsoft Windoze XP is a memory hog. the much awaited (Dreaded) "Longhorn" (Longhog more like) Is yet another example of bloat and bad coding. Seriously think of what you can do with a small 64 bit OS, and a small compiler for it. Probably C++. The commercial software manufacturers have a lot to answer for. With Microsoft and their latest Office products (Wordprocessing emailing etc) If it takes up so much memory that is adressed by a 64 bit chip (think of the size of the memory map) that even then the minimum requirements are in that sort of hardware range, Badly coded and bloated are words I would use. Worse still the ghost of Microsoft Bob still lurks in Office, (Assistants) run a resource meter when they are haunting the screen. you will see what I mean. Shalom Sophie. |
