Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesCritical Identity of BaptismYes, I agree with you about the above which you quoted as 'types' and were all used as pictures of a higher spiritual reality. The circimcision of the Old Testament was a picture of the spiritual "circumcision of Christ", this is the "circimcision made without hands."Water baptism has a higher spiritual reality than merely an outward sign of getting wet. As one is getting baptized something happens in the spiritual realm. The blood of Jesus Christ is applied for the remission of sins and the name of Jesus Christ is stamped on the convert as the identification that the new convert belongs to Christ. When the antichrist comes he will imitate Christ in placing the mark of the beast on his followers. The mark of the beast will most likely be a physical mark but with spiritual consequences that idenitifies with antichrist's name. Just as water baptism is a physical sign but with spiritual consequences that identifies with Jesus' name. Egypt was a type of the 'world' and passing through the Red Sea opening was a 'type' of water baptism. The 'sin' type was the leaven in bread. So according to your definition of 'type' ie Joseph and Jesus, Jesus did not have to die bodily on the cross and shed his blood in the physical because that was a physical fulfillment of the 'type' rather than some mystical spiritual reality? The early Church understood the spiritual significance of the water baptism in the name of Jesus and practised it. However, sadly the inward and sprititual significance was lost by the fourth century because of Papal persecution which I have exposed in my new post "Modalism: Heresy Or Catholic Persecution of Truth". And to imply I proclaim hate toward others is unjustified. I do not doubt the genuine love you and others have for the Lord Jesus Christ. Nor do I doubt anyone's sincerity. But no one is saved by a having a warm gooey feeling inside toward the Lord. We are saved through the blood of Jesus Christ which is received by faith. But faith is not simply intellectual agreement. Faith is obedience to the terms of the Gospel which is plainly stated in Scripture. The Book of Acts shows time and again by example how the Church should be carrying out those terms. And the Book of Acts is the standard by which the Church of today should measure Itself. I'm not proclaiming some new doctrine. I am only trying to expose the traditions of modern Christianity that have been built up since the Catholic church imposed them by force on the early Christians. |
