ArchivedSin: Are we reconciled or are we not? This is where our opinions differ. You and I are both saved. We both admit that we do things wrong sometimes (I call it sin, you call it a weakness). Let's say that you and I both tell a lie. I see it as a sin - a transgression against the law of God that must be repented of. So I pray and ask for forgiveness, and thus have my relationship with God restored. You see your lie as a weakness - it is just a goof up that you made in the process of becoming more like Christ. As you continue to grow you learn that lying is not acceptable to God. The difference is that you don't think God counts this as a sin that needs to be repented of. Yet you continue to say that "we are accountable for our words and actions". This is a contradiction. If God doesn't hold your actions as sin, then you are not accountable for them at all. God just marks them up to the learning curve. In saying that God grades Christians on a learning curve, you are saying that God changes His standards of measurement - what is a sin for a nonChristian is a weakness (and not a sin) for a believer. When have you known God to ever change His standards. Only one of us really believes that we are accountable for our actions...... and it's not the one that thinks we don't need to repent when we do something that doesn't measure up to God's holiness (whether we call it sin or weakness). |
