The farther out into space we look, the further back into time we look. I don't think anyone is going to argue with that, no matter how old or young they think the universe is.
And the farther out we look, the more we see very bright quasars associated with the black holes in the centers of the galaxies. We also see that the closer in we get, or more recent in time, the dimmer the quasars are, until they disappear. We have only a black hole in the center of our Milky Way Galaxy.
It was not that way at first. The quasar that was ours was lit by God with "let there be light" and with the earth spinning on its axis and the very high speed of light at the beginning, there is no difficulty in knowing how we got day and night, morning and evening the first few days. We had directional light and an earth spinning on its axis. That's all that was needed.
And yes, we were told to use gravitational/orbital clock by which to measure time. This runs at a steady rate while the atomic clock has been measured as running at a different rate. The billions of atomic years we find in radio decay work are NOT the same as the orbital years of us going around the sun.
