Science, Creation & EvolutionHelix - atheistSlavery existed as an economic fact long before Christianity. The Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and Arab nations kept and sold slaves (and some Arab nations still allow slavery). Imperial desires by some men also predated Christianity. Again we can see this in Egypt, Greece (Alexander the Great), the Chinese dynasties, and etc. Atrocities against humanity also predate the spread of Christianity; Attila the Hun is a good example. Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic Church by establishing the Church of England so he could divorce Catherine of Aragon in 1533. Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Wittenburg Church on October 31, 1517, which resulted in the formation of the Lutheran Confession of 1530 by German nobility. The European "age of exploration" is not attributed to Columbus but to the Portugese. If I remember correctly Columbus never set foot on North or South America. The America's are named for Amerigo Vespucci, an Italian sponsored by Spain. Don't they teach history in the Netherlands? |
