I'm an Arab now huh ? O well I guess I am since I speak their language.
Are we supposed to be impressed?
Because you speak arabic we should reject all the other translators who were eminent scholars and have translated the koran? What makes your translations superior to all the arabic scholars that have translated the koran?
Where are your qualifications to reject interpretations of eminent scholars?
I DON'T BELIEVE YOU, Christian and Jewish friends rofl. It just shows how dumb you are, Quran teaches not to take Jews and Christians as your friends.
You must be talking about this verse:
O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your awliyaa'a; they are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust. 5:51
I am still trying to find out why the translators would translate such a word as awliyaa'a as friends when it doesnt mean friends. The word means Patrons, Gaurdians, and Protectors...not friends. I do not look to my Christian and Jewish Friends as awliyaa'a in anything. It is a mutaul relationship of respect as part humanity.
Pickthall:
O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.
Shakir:
O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.
Sher Ali:
O ye who believe ! take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends of each other. And whoso among you takes them for friends is indeed one of them. Verily ALLAH guides not the unjust people.
Yusuf Ali:
O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily God guideth not a people unjust.
What did the early muslims take that verse to mean?:
The Prohibition of Taking the Jews, Christians and Enemies of Islam as Friends
Allah forbids His believing servants from having Jews and Christians as friends, because they are the enemies of Islam and its people, may Allah curse them. Allah then states that they are friends of each other and He gives a warning threat to those who do this,

(And if any among you befriends them, then surely he is one of them.) Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that `Umar ordered Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari to send him on one sheet of balance the count of what he took in and what he spent. Abu Musa then had a Christian scribe, and he was able to comply with `Umar's demand. `Umar liked what he saw and exclaimed, "This scribe is proficient. Would you read in the Masjid a letter that came to us from Ash-Sham'' Abu Musa said, `He cannot.'' `Umar said, "Is he not pure'' Abu Musa said, "No, but he is Christian.'' Abu Musa said, "So `Umar admonished me and poked my thigh (with his finger), saying, `Drive him out (from Al-Madinah).' He then recited,

Sevryn45 as you no doubt have seen H2O is a resident "one man" hadith rejecter, koran re-interpreter, and koranic re-translator, without a qualification to his name (he has been embarassed over this stance by his fellow muslims on this forum). He does not believe in sects, yet he would align himself with the sunnis as opposed to the shias (yet he doesn't believe in sects) if Mohammed himself was to come up and say this is the interpretation of said verse, he is more than likely to say "shut up you don't understand arabic".
H20 was your religion created in the 20th century?
Where again are your qualifications to interpret anything in the koran, since you are the greatest, arabic interpreter this side of the atlantic?
