I admit there are a few, but it's a very small group:
Talk Origin wrote: Out of the approximately 13,000,000 scientists and engineers in the US alone, less than 5% (some 600,000) are creationists, according to Gallup poll results. However, this number includes those working in fields not related to life origins (such as computer scientists, mechanical engineers, etc.). Taking into account only those working in the relevant fields of earth and life sciences, there are about 480,000 scientists, but only about 700 believe in "creation-science" or consider it a valid theory [Robinson 1995]. This means that less than 0.15% of relevant scientists believe in creationism. And that's just the US, which has more creationists than any other industrialized country. In other countries, the number of relevant scientists who accept creationism drops to less than one tenth of 1%
How many scientists who are not creationists (which I admit is a small number) are devout, Bible belelieving Christians who see intelligent design and not random chance or stability from chaos in our universe?
Talk Origins is less than an unbiased site to pull good information from.
The only reason we use science to verify Biblical truth is because atheists and others use science in an attempt to disprove the Bible. - This means the ony reason you are using scientific research is to react to scientific claims by atheists. (Why else would you use science, if no one disagrees with you? This is all extrapolated from you text.)
I really cannot answer this question since I could care less what you believe. I personally accept true science over theoretical science, which is the main "science" atheists throw at us. You have your favorite scientists like Sagan, who corrupted what he knew to be true in order to remain an opponent to Christian beliefs. Sagan was also a registered agent of the USSR, who wanted to help the USSR overturn faith in a supreme being. Gorbachev was the first leader in the USSR to realize the most dedicated workers in the USSR were Christians and worked to eliminate discrimination against Christians in the USSR.
- This would also mean that you would believe everyhing in the bible without scientific reasearch. (You wouldn't be researching it if there hadn't been any atheists)
I do believe everything in the Bible and did before I got involved in the science forum.
- This would also mean you lead a very naive life; one without questioning. After all, you completely believe what is written in a book (-which has probaly been altered many times in all the translations-) yet call it truth.
Assumption upon assumption. I am far from naive and I am not stupid. I took science classes in high school and college as well as some philosophy.
- Furthermore, you would also be denying over a hundred years of scientific research and RESULTS regarding evolution.
By accepting what current science can actually demonstrate to be true, which you and other evolutionists would prefer just go away.
To my question why the bible is inerrant, Nickatwarwick very cleverly stated:
Nickatwarwick wrote: Simply, the Bible has to be inerrant, as if not then how can we tell which bits are from God and which bits aren't?
Question:
How can you tell which bits in the bible are from god and which are not?
Answer:
By assuming the entire bible is inerrant and everything is written by/through god, making it an absolute truth.
Do you realise how crooked your reasoning is?
- Why is it true?
- Because 'he who doesn't make mistakes' wrote it.
Very scientific...
You have just demonstrated your total ignorance of Bible scholars and how authenticity of manuscripts are determined. You have also taken the word of one man over hundreds of years of real scholarship and investigation. Now who is being naive?
