Science, Creation & EvolutionFossilization rates and volcanic eruptionsI presume you are talking about the wild Tasmanian mountain stand of Huon pine trees that has been dated to 10,500 years old. This tree stand was not dated by tree rings or drill core sampling of the tree itself. Instead they took a core sample of a lake below the mountain which contains Huon pine pollen. The oldest tree ring dating on the actual site was around 4000 years old and as far as I know the oldest tree was a 4600 year old Bristlecone pine somwhere in the rockies... but i could be wrong. |
