Science, Creation & EvolutionHelix - atheistWho is playing word games? The Bible states that "A fool in his heart says there is no God." Psalms 53:1 What we see in astronomy happened eons ago. What you attribute to gravity can be attributed just as easily to God. You need a naturalistic explanation and simply deny a super natural explanation. But, I will ask again if you have read up on the scientific discoveries of the the last 20 years? So the Greeks invented gods to justify their behavior. Greek civilization tolerated homosexuality. If you know anything about the history of Greece and homosexuality you would understand that Spartan homosexuality was situational. But that is another topic for another forum. Have you studied anthropology? There is a branch of anthropology that studies cultural myths and legends. A guiding principle in the discipline is that all myths such as a creation myth or a flood myth that have similar details have a common origin. In other words all creation myths, flood myths, and confusion of language myths are from one and only one source. The Tower of Babel immediately comes to mind. When I was in high school and college I wrote a couple of papers on creation, flood, and other myths that are common in cultures as diverse as aboriginal tribes in Africa, North, South and Central America, Europe, Asia, and Australia and all points in between, which contributed to my rejection of the inerrancy of the Bible. That and I was gay. However, as I matured and started reading up on science I discovered science could not answer some basic questions concerning the origins of life, our earth, and our universe. This happened after I decided to research and study homosexuality and the possible causes of that condition. Dean Hamer’s, a NIH molecular geneticist doing research into a possible genetic link to homosexuality, published study in the Journal of Nature in the early 90’s concerning what he found on the X28 chromosome in 80% of his research universe ignited my curiosity about other scientific disciplines. BTW, the gay community and gay activists as well as the media, some atheists, and liberals jumped on Hamer’s study and claimed Hamer had discovered the “gay gene”. People will believe what they want to believe, which means they ignore real science. Hamer never claimed to have found a “gay gene”. He later wrote that not all men who are gay will have the marker and not all men who have the marker are gay (Science of Desire). In the process of reading my understanding of many issues came together and I am now a creationist, and an evangelical ex-gay male who understands the Bible and true science are not and cannot be mutually exclusive or contradictory. |
