I would also lock down your "Restricted Sites" with in your browser. This
can help prevent Home Page Hijacking, scripts, and other malicious
activites. If you have resticted sites in the broswer, this will GREATLY
help reduce the amount of "stuff" that gets downloaded (scripts, .exe
or other malicious code) onto your computer. The majority of
Ad-Ware is scripted based (there are a few very bad .exe and dll) So, if
you have these web sites blocked by the browser, they wont be getting
onto you computer.
Locking down Restricted Sites with in the browser requires an exhausting
list of web sites. A list if "black sites" can be downloaded from a verity
of sites and "converted" so you can load them into the Restricted Sites
within your browser.
