This is my last post on the subject of the U.N. I have been on this earth as long as the U.N. has been in existence and I have yet to see the U.N. resolve any conflict without the use of American military advisors, military aid, or American troops. The U.N. is great at debating issues, passing resolutions, and filling the air with useless rhetoric, but when the rubber hits the road the U.N. cannot accomplish a thing because of differing objectives by competing governments who want to control not only the U.N. but also the world. If the U.N. would spend as much effort fighting terrorism as they do opposing Israel then just maybe it would accomplish something worth praise.
You can complain about how America does things, but Bush has promised $15 billion dollars to help combat AIDS worldwide while there are Americans infected with HIV who do not have access to adequate health care or the medications they need to stay healthy.
You can point to Iraq as how American “imperialism” is bad for world peace, but Iraqi’s have more schools, clean water, electricity, telephones, and hospitals now than they did when Saddam was in control. What the media reports is the deaths caused mostly by terrorists who want to gain control of Iraq’s oil and ignore the fact that American money is rebuilding Iraq’s infrastructure. The sooner the terrorists causing problems in Iraq realize that they are delaying the withdrawal of American troops and cease their bombing Iraqi civilians and the provisional government the faster we can bring our troops home and spend the billions we are spending for troops on more pressing needs.
America may not be perfect but as a nation we have done more to help those in need than all other countries combined.
