ArchivedThis might not be sensitive.jesus is one path. of course, there is no proof that jesus actually said that the only path to salvation is through him. i look at it as christian propaganda. i find many metaphors and awesome morals in the bible, yet i can discern between what is a metaphor and what is not. i have faith (what the definition of faith is) and i believe that jesus will lead me to salvation. is it jesus in person? no. is it jesus in his teachings, values, morals and eithics? yes. Jesus' teachings are prevalent in hinduism buddhism and other religions. so technically i am following jesus. do i believe hes divine? who knows? now, i dont. i only have faith in my form of God, not a christian one. i could if i wanted to, but whats the point? i believe that all religions are just different pathes to the same goal, salvation and bliss. lets see.... ya, theres a big difference between religions when it comes to suffering. your statement of how suffering will end in only eternity and not in this life is true to christianity, for that is what you believe. in buddhism and hinduism, you have several chances to achieve thiss bliss in God or spirit. and you have several chances to attain this in your life time too. this suffering can end when you realize truth. read some books my the dalai lama. they are not focused on realigion, but rather, how to live life and attain happiness. its like a self help book. "Karma is supposed to lead to 'balance', but it must do that by perpetuating pain, evil, and suffering. Thus, somehow in this belief of yours, you must reconcile that fact with the desire to stop suffering. That would, after all, destroy the 'balance'.... " balance does not mean equal. humans are to strive to be moral. that is the definition of human. but reality is that humans suffer. and to confront this, you can escape this suffering. "But then, if all is maya, illusion, why worry? On the other hand, if all is maya, why is one of the four original goals in Hinduism material wealth??? " there are several paths to attain salvation. one of them is the house holder. you can get married, have a job, have kids. in doing so, you must do as an average man would do, earn a living. by doing acts of kindness in daily life and commiting yourself to altruism, you can attain salvation. there is the path of being a forest dweller, where you meditate, focus on God and search for the truth. another path. "By the way, which caste were you born into?" i take it that you are not aware of proper manners. you are to never ask this question to a hindu unless if you want to be unimaginably rude and disrespectful. if you want to talk about the caste system, please go to the proper thread. |
