Truth Seeker-Joshua, I am not sure, but I think you misunderstood the lead post here. I did not read that God had to save us, but that if we could somehow save ourselves, then God was not necessary. The argument presented by kesuramoni seemed to be aimed at those who claimed to not only believe in a God or god or gods, that if they thought they could achieve divinity on their own (Mormons, Hindus, etc.) via their own works and participation in various rituals or meditations and such, that it was silly to then pretend to worship a deity. Worship should be directed at onself, I would think, if one could become a divinity.
I read nothing in that post regarding God somehow being required to save us, only about us not needing Him if we could somehow save ourselves.
gerani, I do apologize for the way my post was worded. It did state, as I worded it, that Hindus worshiped stone idols. Cows are bad enough -- they don't have to add stone to it! What I was thinking when I wrote the post was in much more generalized terms of the idol worship that has been historically typical of most of non-Christian Africa. So please accept my apologize for a very poorly worded section of my response.
However, yes, I do know what karma really means in its original and Eastern meaning. What you are dealing with is pretty Americanized/sanitized so that you are willing to accept it.
Edit: after checking your webpage again, OH BOY does it present a sanitized version for Western consumption! The point that Hinduism does not worship idols has this interesting twist, however, "We are asked not to worship idols, but worship God in the form of idols."
OK....whatever....
