why would you want God to save you? we are not helpless creatures in distress. we are mature humans capable of creating nuclear weapons. surely we have control over our karma. surly we can can control our destiny. God loves us. we need love. the definition of God in hinduism is pretty vague. Brahman (God) is universal spirit. a bigng, withink everything and around. everwhere, premating everything. it has no face, instead it has several, in nature, in humans, in animals, in statues of His attributes (hindu pantheon, etc.). its meant to be that way, so the individual can discover God on his/her own. this is a personal journey. a priest or theologan can guide you, but you are ultimitly the one who makes the important decisions. we are divine because we have a soul as all creatures and living things do. when we attain salavation we become blank, one with the God, spirit. salvation is a different path for everyone. we believe in God to focus our prayers and meditations on this supreme being that is everwhere. is indirectly we need Him. withought him, salvation would be impossible because there would be no purpose. i have mentioned the several ways of attaining truth, salvation. hope it answers your question. you must realize that hinduism and buddhism are personal journeys. christianty is a very community organized religion, everything is black and white, right or wrong. hinduism, though, addresses the truth of reality, the many shades of grey. |
