Christian/Muslim ThreadsIslamic Perspectives of The Death & Return of Jesuswa alaikum assalaam Unite What was the criterion the scholars used to authenticate hadeeths ? Al-Bukhari (r.a.h.) collected over 200,000 hadeeths and chose just over 4000 as sahih. Thats alot of false hadeeths, that circulated. He selected hadeeths that had the strongest chain of narration. Then they were tested with the Quran to see if they contradicted Quran. Bukhari NEVER said his collection was infallible, neither Muslim , Tirmizi, or Abu Dawood, but from what I understood he left the door open for error. They use the Quran to authenticate hadeeth. Why did Muslim come behind his TEACHER (Bukhari) with his own collection of Hadeeth ? He went over his teacher's work, and included hadeeths his teacher did not include in his original collection. Then came along other collectors etc. Who is to say some false hadeeths didnt sneek in accedidently with the authentic ones ? Would you like an example ? Here you go. Some Sahih hadeeth narrated Aisha (r.a.h.) married the Prophet when she was 6 years of age in which the marriage took place Hijrah 1-2, but then again Aisha was born 7-8 years before the Hijrah. We have a problem here, that would make her 9-10 years of age instead 6 if the prophet married her during Hijrah 1-2, which coincides that she was widowed at the age of 18-19 10 years later. If she was 6 when the Prophet(s.a.w.) married her that means she would have been 16 when she became widowed not 18-19 years of age. Also to accept he married her at the age of 6 would be a contradiction to the Quran as Allah said to MARRY ONLY ANNISAA ~ WOMEN, whereas a female was considered a WOMAN at puberty. The prophet was an example for us remember this. As to understand the hadeeth that contains the Prophets sayings, the Quran is a vital tool to understanding what he meant distinguished from the Actual Sunnah it self in which we follow FULFILLING the will of Allah. The issue here is not the Sunnah, the issue here has to do with prophecies which have nothing to do with the prophet's Sunnah (Practice ie Practice of the Quran) such as the Salah, Fasting, Hajj, Hygene, etc. Some examples will be given from some former work posted on these forums by my self: It was reported our prophet said "...the first meal of the people of Paradise will be Extra-lobe (caudate lobe) of fish-liver...." is this literal ? Absolutely not. How do we know ? The Quran tells us that the food we will recieve in the here after will RESEMBLE that of the sustenance of this dunyah. This was explained here with the application of the Quran to the Hadeeth http://www.jesus-christ-forums.com/home/viewtopic ... 8598#38598 It is said the Prophet mentioned about how if the "maa'a"~water of a male or female overtakes the other the child will resemble him or her. This was explained here with the application of the Quran to the hadeeth http://www.jesus-christ-forums.com/home/viewtopic ... 8884#38884 this is continued on http://www.jesus-christ-forums.com/home/viewtopic ... 8969#38969 . The prophet made mention about how we are collected as within our mothers for 40 days, THEN created from an "alaqah". What is this 40 days of collection period within our mothers? This was explained here with the application of the Quran to the hadeeth http://www.jesus-christ-forums.com/home/viewtopic ... 3917#33917 . The hadeeth must be understood COLLECTIVELY on a subject manner, and thus needs the eye of the Quran to understanding some of the Prophets statements. As to the issue of Isaa Bin Maryam, He is to descend on the wings of Angels (in the western ideology they may see this as a man riding two fairy looking creatures with wings), whereas the Quran and Hadeeth elaborate on how huge and emense angels are that cover the horizon with their wings in true form, and then Isa is suppose to break the cross, and kill the pig etc in which these statements are symbolic when all the hadeeth are viewed together collectively, not just one or two and you think you understand them. It is said the Prophet expressed that people (Muslims) in future generations will understand his saying BETTER than those who were present with him. One of the most important thing also is to go back to the Arabic of the Hadeeth. Alot of the translators added their own interpolation. I never read hadith in english in the first place nor the Quran. When I am presented with something in english I am not that acqauinted with it as I am in the Arabic. I hope you take the time to read those other posts I made refence to. I do not reject hadeeth if that is what you may have thought, UNLESS it contradicts the Quran. I have no need to use them when I have the Quran to use freely, as the Prophet and ALSO his companions debated with the Quran. I feel hadeeth is something to be learnt amongst us muslims in which a non muslim who has no knowledge of the Quran muchless who has been veiled from understanding it will never understand hadeeth. wassalaam ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Should be written Sami ? سمي = seen, meem,ya'a (smy) w/vowels "SaMiY" pron. sa-mee. Why dont you invite them here so we can talk in Arabic rather than in english. I am am sure it will be clear to them then. . Scared ? , you amuse me thats why. The name "Abdullah", beautiful name it is an honor for anyone to have a name like that. Yes I do know its someones name. I am sure everybody such as my own brothers and sisters figured it out except for you. Was Ibn Kathir (r.a.h.) an embryologist or biologiest or someone who was a scholar in human anatomy ? Just try a little harder you'll get it, your warm, your almost hot. |
