Christian/Muslim ThreadsThe Main Questions AreSalams Joseph, thank you for your comments. Your concern for the perception? What I remember is personal attacks ranging from claims that "I ran away from atheist forums full of doubts" to ignorance. Plus this "yeah Christianity has problems but Islam has too, even to the degree of paralysis" approach. Oh yes, lets "deal with real theological concept." But perhaps you read Islam from orientalist sources, because the issues you picked does not show Islam has problems. If you define theological as what relates to God, they are theological issues. But if you define it as a criterion, as what believers should have clear stance on, then they are not theological but philosophical-intellectual issues. Because believeing in whether Qur'an is kalam (speech) or mahlook (creature) does not make you better or worse Muslim. You dont even need to pay attention to it for your salvation. Many Muslims says Allah knows best in these issues. Also about Attributes of God. Yeah there was this Basra school who said "Allah is Creator, therefore He creates." And Kufa school who said "Allah creates, therefore He is Creator." The same goes with this too. As an ordinary Muslim I dont have to choose one. Because these are philosophical mind stretching. I'm not saying they are insignificant. I'm just saying they are not theological problems in the sense you bring up here. There has always been some marginal movements that walked on the sharp edge, but the above two points are not of these. For example kadareyya, who claimed we cannot control our destiny, so we cannot be held responsible. Or Avicenna's and some other philosophers' claim that God may know the majors but not minors. All these are rejected harshly of course, by far majority Muslim scholars. There are many Christian scientists. Or you can also say there are many scientists who were Christians, before 60 % become atheists. In national academy of science of the US the ratio goes up to 93 %. Do you think this needs explanation regarding rationality of Christianity? The more educated Christians get the more they lose God. Yeah exactly. Belief and disbelief are not equal but equivalent in hierarchy. And you can know light by darkness. Of course he didnt. He called people to One God. So for my part I'm in no way disrespectful to Jesus pbuh. I'm almost impressed, if only you've quoted the verse correctly. So does this mean you support validity of your comments with showcase of expertise on Qur'an? It is "la yukallefullahu nafsan ella wus'aha" meaning "Allah does not charge a soul with more than it can bear." The other alternative to your claim might be, Christianity is far less burden on a soul. You know it is an easy religion in observances. Accept Jesus and thats it. Yeah fallacies. Are you talking about those fallacies you addressed one by one in patience and made me embarrassed?! Yeah i'm not interested in it either. But so far you played the nice and prudent. But it's over! I could not close my eyes to your sly insults. Mine either. Period. |
