Many people would agree with you, even Christians. However, what happened in 2001 was the consequence of behavior that dates back to 1961. I committed to change my sexuality in 1983, 4 years after HIV was first defined as a disease. Since one can be HIV+ for years before any symptoms become apparent you are basing your comments on behavior that ceased long before I was diagnosed HIV+.
I have been a Christian since I was 10. However, I was raised in a liberal church where God's truth was not taught. So I accepted some false concepts that needed to be re-examined later in life. I bought into the concept that God created me gay and denied my personal responsibility of living a Christ like life. Being a Christian does not mean living a perfect life; it means having a personal relationship with the man Jesus Christ. Have you ever let a relationship lapse and then decades later rekindled that relationship? The parable of the Prodigal Son applies to me.
BTW, a celibate homosexual can be a Christian. What God will judge is behavior and motivation, not an orientation.
