Christian/Muslim ThreadsHow do Muslims view the war in Iraq?Peace Believer, Agreed! On the last inspection, the UN inspectors were allowed in all areas. They just couldn’t find anything. Well it’s the truth. The sanctions were killing the Iraqi people. After all, you apparently care for the wellbeing of the Iraqis. Where was all the love when they were under these sanctions? In 1997, the United Nations Human Rights Committee noted that: "the effect of sanctions and blockades has been to cause suffering and death in Iraq, especially to children" If you are going to label my argument as BS, then please give your own evidence to prove me wrong. Do you disagree that Iraq has the second largest oil reserves in the world, and that by getting rid of Saddam Hussein that America would have better access to them? Your exact words were “This war wasn't too traumatizing to the Iraqi people, it is something they appreciate.” You must be on something to actually believe people appreciate a war. It’s disgusting how the American administration paints itself to be the protector of the Iraqi people when it is they who were killing them for 10 years. History doesn’t forget! The evil one being Iran? It’s amazing though, that since America disagreed with Iran revolution, it aids Iraq into invading them. Do you know who was fault with the Iran-Iraq war? Yes, it was Iraq, and guess who I was backing them. You’re so called peaceful nation. It was the Iraqi leadership who sought “to exploit Iran's military and political chaos in order to resolve border disputes, gain control of Iran's oil-rich western (largely Arab) province, and achieve hegemony in the Persian Gulf” http://www.britannica.com/ebc/article?eu=393473. And America was all for it. But the funny things is, when Iraq invaded Kuwait (Iraq at fault once more), America was all of sudden at war with Saddam Hussein. Funny ain’t? Here’s poor Saddam Hussein thinking that he will receive America’s support. I mean you can’t blame him for thinking that. He received their support when he did the exact same thing in Iran. So then the America is at war with bad-boy Saddam, and the entire nation is under sanctions. Ahh…the beauty of history. America: hypocrisy at it’s worst!
My point was that the people of Iraq should have been able to choose another form of government besides a democratic one. I thought you’re all about pro-choice Believer. When there was talk of Iraqi Shia leaders having some sort of “Islamic” state, it was shot down by the Americans. They wouldn’t have a word of it. So long for the term “Iraq for Iraqis”. It’s all about setting up a puppet government. They did it with Afghanistan, why not Iraq right? You still don’t get it. Islam cannot coincide with democracy. Islam gives supreme powers to God, while in it democracy it is for the people. And why should the world dictate to us? God is the supreme dictator. Not mere human beings. I wasn’t referring to keep Hussein in. No I see you, a supposed “peace loving” Christian, supporting a President who has invaded 2 Muslims countries and in the process killed and destroyed the lives of hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslims. Yes, I’m sure you’re pro-life, when you’re all about wars and unnecessary deaths for your shameful gains. Yes I am. Shame the same can’t be said about you! I don’t agree with the actions of these militant not because they kill American soldiers. I’m glad actually. It serves them right for invading Iraq. What I don’t like to see is innocent people getting caught up in the chaos. Better? Peace and Blessings be to the Believers |
