Christian/Muslim ThreadsHow do Muslims view the war in Iraq?Peace Believer, Ahh…Vote for the lesser evil of the two. And what if as a Muslim you do not want to see either of the two in office? Have you thought of that? Actually he wasn’t. Saddam Hussein did not have any connection with Al-Qaida at all. The 9/11 commission said: “We have no credible evidence that Iraq and al-Qaida cooperated on attacks against the United States.” http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5223932/ There was no evidence for WMD’s in Iraq. To believe doesn’t cut it. The UN couldn’t find it before the war, and America and it’s lapdogs can’t find it now. Again no evidence to your claims. Sorry! You go on and on about Saddam Hussein, but what about the embargos that Iraq had to endure for 10 years, where it lead to half a million children dying of malnutrition. An Iraqi said regarding the sanctions: "First I sold my television, then my furniture, then my car, then my house," said Mohammed Abdul Razaq, a retired office worker. "Everything that I built up over a lifetime is gone. A bomb is something you hear far away, or at worst, it kills you in a second. Sanctions kill you every day." -- from Smart Bombs, Dumb Sanctions January 3, 1999 New York Times Article Others on the sanctions: "We call on the president of America, the vice president and the congressmen to come to Iraq and see the little children and Tony Blair, the U.K. government and Kofi Annan to come and to go to the cancer ward and give us an answer...what was their crime?" -Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo Perez-Esquivel of Argentina who traveled to Iraq in March (AP, March 9, 1999) "I asked myself many times where do the rights of children fit in here? Why should any, but especially children under the age of five, suffer so much and die in such numbers? Sadly, I had to witness ever repeated scenes of children dying as I walked through hospital wards...." - Margarita Skinner, UNICEF Health Coordinator in Baghdad from 1991-1992, excerpt from her 1998 book 'Between Despair and Hope. Windows on my Middle East Journey 1967-1992'. The Radcliffe Press . London and New York 1998. "You kill people without blood or organs flying around, without angering American public opinion. People are dying silently in their beds. If 5,000 children are dying each month, this means 60,000 a year. Over eight years, we have half a million children. This is equivalent to two or three Hiroshimas."-Ashraf Bayoumi, former head of the World Food Programme Observation Unit, in charge of monitoring food distribution in Iraq (Al-Ahram Weekly, 24 December 1998). When Madeline Albright was asked by a journalist "We have heard that half a million children have died [as a result of sanctions against Iraq]. I mean, that is more children than died in Hiroshima.... Is the price worth it? “She replied “"...we think the price is worth it." (60 minutes, May 12 1996) Where’s the compassion that American administration had for the Iraqi people with a response such as that? The truth is, the killing of Iraq was occurring for 10 years at the hands of America. So how do you expect me to believe that America all of sudden now wants to free them? They appreciate it do they? They appreciate being “accidentally” bombed, having little or no access to humanitarian funds. Believer, perhaps you should go through a war and see how much appreciation you have for it. Honestly, that was a disgusting statement to make! America is all fine when Hussein is following orders, right? It’s against Islam. To accept democracy means to put Islam on the burner. I’d rather get rid of democracy and keep my religion. They can’t exist at the same time. Islam will do that! Democracy is not needed. Which Islamic state do you have in mind? Mind you that no Islamic state has existed after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. What right do you have though? People should be able to choose what form of governments they want. The United States made it clear that any other from of government would not be acceptable to them. Iraq is for the Iraqi people. Mind your own damn business! And this is why Allah tells the Muslims in the Quran not to ally ourselves with the likes of you. I did. You weren’t paying close attention. Go back and re-read it.
