Christian/Muslim ThreadsIf Islam ruled America...H20, Um, we plainly admit that "our kingdom is not of this world." I know that some people equate terrestrial domination with God's grace, but Christians know better. Anyway, all majority Christian states allow the building of mosques, so I don't understand your point. Yet we Westerners had no problem letting Muslims build a masjid in Rome, a stone's throw from the Vatican. I can only imagine the reaction from the Muslim community there if Italy and the Vatican had refused. Here's some more from the Wall Street Journal about this double standard. (Note that it is from the Op/Ed section. If anyone thinks it's a little skewed against the Muslim policy, that's because it is. But it raises a legitimate question: why does a double standard such as this exist?) http://www.opinionjournal.com/taste/?id=110003943 My question for you, H20, is "What business do Muslims have preaching in the Holy City of the Christians?" Moreover, Constantinople is the base of the Eastern Orthodox church. What business did Muslims have in beseiging it for 700 years before conquering it in 1453? Muslims turned Justinian's Hagia Sophia into the Blue Mosque. Muslims are not interested in playing fair. They do not believe in the Golden Rule, and refuse to extend to their fellow men the courtesies they have been extended. If Christians decide to build a cathedral on Mount Arafat, or if we decide to invade Mecca altogether and turn the Kabbah into a chapel and the well of Zamzam into a baptismal font, I don't want to hear ONE MUSLIM whining about the unfairness of it all. Um....The 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified on December 15, 1791. You do the math. The first Islamic institution in the United States: http://tribina-bosnjaka.com/baca_eng.htm Before then, not many Muslims were TRYING to get into the United States. The first were Lebanese and Eastern Europeans to came as workers in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It should be noted that once they started coming, they were obviously allowed entry. Also, note that the mosque is still standing. I did not note anywhere in it's history any suspicious fires. Even when I was a Muslim, I had always heard that this was the oldest mosque in the country, and before then, Muslims met in their homes to worship (much like the Christians do in Saudi Arabia, although those Christians have the money to build churches in Arabia, and these early American Muslims did not). Please provide evidence of early mosques being burned down. I should mention here that I realize that black Muslims brought here as slaves were treated pretty shabbily centuries before the dates I've discussed. They were also treated badly when they became Christians too. And they were treated badly when they were owned by Muslims. It is a sin on all of our part. Well, then again, Muslims allow slavery, don't they? Look at Sudan, after all. My Gosh, what a terrible thing for you! Lady Fatima, this is exactly what I am talking about. You so matter-of-factly proclaim that Christians should not be allowed to preach inside Saudi Arabia. Yet look at how you Muslims SQUEAL when such rights are deprived YOU! "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Publius P.S. Lady Fatima, I know it is easy for you to dismiss Christianity as a pack of lies. It is JUST as easy for me to dismiss Islam as the work of Shaytan! A quick hop over to www.answering-islam.org will explain it better than I ever could. I'm not trying to get rid of Muslims, or even stop people from converting. I just want Muslims to be fair and just, and they are not. If you think we should stop preaching in your lands, then you must therefore concede that it is wrong and unethical to preach in ours.[/b] |
