Christian/Muslim ThreadsJesus recognized but not accepted in muslim religion hmmmOther than the matter of interpretation to that verse your support was stated: First of all your verse you Quoted was pertaining to the Sadducess who were conservative Jews. Paul's letter was directed towards a whole different nature of People who were already Christians ~ the Corinthians who were Gentiles. The Corinthian people's former religion was Helenism that already believed in the resurrection of man and the belief of heaven and hell prior to Christianity. So I would say your interpretation is way off from the reality of the former beliefs of those people which conformed to some of what they had already believed in the new faith of Christianity. Even so we come to a disagreement as to what Paul meant by such accusation to the Corinthians, it is understood from that prior to Christianity they already had believed in a resurrection in their former religion of Helenism. This ressurection therefore is refering directly, in the context as Paul uses, infering to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. Which was the same belief Paul was tackling with the Phillipians of "The Enemies of The Cross of Christ" http://www.studylight.org/enc/isb/view.cgi?number=T2324 They were already an established Church when Paul wrote his letters to them. To learn more about Helenism you would have to consult a book on Helenistic beliefs. You can start with the Britannica. The fact remains there were Christians at that time that rejected the Crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. |
