When I first tried to read the Bible I believe I was around 10 or 11. The only one I had access to belonged to the Baptist Church I attended and was the King James translation. I remember how it didn't matter how moved I felt or how hungry I was, in a few minutes of the Kings English I didn't feel so moved or hungry anymore. And then I got the "Good News for Modern Man" translation.
So many people came against it saying it was not trustworthy, that reading it made me feel guilty. After more then 30 years of life in as worldly a fashion as one can get, I received a Bible as a Christmas gift. It is also a strange translation compared to the King James, but this time I didn't care what other people had to say, who themselves don't read any type of translation. I read that "The Family Devotions Bible, The Living Bible" from Genesis to Revelations. And then I started through it again to proof read my highlights and write my own commentary. Until someone started guiding me into a more topic oriented Bible study. I have spent a few hours reading all over the Bible in this topic or that prophecy, and still am not completely sure as to where a new student/child should start his/her study. Every person seems to be different as to his or her need for answer area. And then again some people just like hearing a good story.
So what do you think, where and why did you start where you started?
May God continue to bless His children beyond their ability to receive.
