Vote on a pollWould you lie to save the life of one human being?I would tell the truth (I hope I would, at least), and leave the result up to God. For one thing, it may be God's divine plan for one of my family members to die at gunpoint. That would be a better testimony to the gunman than if I were to lie and then turn around and try to preach the Bible to him. For another thing, you can't guarantee that telling the truth will mean your family member's death. Perhaps the gunman will be convicted by your integrity, and let you both go, and maybe even come to salvation. For yet another thing, you can't guarantee that telling the lie you tell will save your family member's life. If a gunman has the hardness of heart to hold a family member of mine at gunpoint, then chances are it wouldn't bother him too much to tell me that saying one thing will save my relative's life, and then as soon as I say it, ignore what he promised, and shoot my relative anyway.
