Christian/Muslim ThreadsThe Quran came from Mohammed. Some of what you say is valid only if you are arguing against my pastense presupposition. Yes I may be wrong in that aspect, but since you are the one mentioning this "alleged" contradiction, you have to prove it. The system is not "guilty until proven innocent", but "innocent until proven guilty", or to put it in terms of this discussion: "No contradiction until proven contradiction." Is it possible that the other three accounts mentioned the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness after His baptism, but the gospel of John does not mention the baptism of Jesus, thus validating the account of the wedding? Yes. Is it possible that the gospel of John gives a brief day by day of what happened to Jesus after His baptism, but the other three gospels does not give a brief day by day account but a general account of what happened to Jesus after His baptism? Yes. Could I be wrong in these explanations? Yes, but then that does not show that there is a contradiction. There might be some other reason which you and I am ignorant of. But you, my friend, have not proven "beyond a reasonable doubt" that there is a contradiction. Let's remember, Jesus' ministry was three to three and a half years. All the gospels does not cover every second or even day for that matter. There could be gaps that last weeks or months. Other possibilities: And the third day there was a marriage… Either from the second testimony bore by John the Baptist concerning Christ, and from the call of Simon Peter, which seem to be of the same date; see (John 1:35,36,42,43) , or from Christ's coming into Galilee; or from the conversation he had with Nathanael; from either of which the date is taken, it matters not; the first is as agreeable and plain, as any. There is much dispute, and many rules with the Jews about the times, and days of marriage (New John Gill Exposition). |
