Being in Berlin we receive visits from many "World Evangelist". A few months ago Benny Hinn was in town, my wife and I signed up to be volunteers and do spiritual counseling. We went to a meeting where it was explained to us what we would be expected to do. We would be screeners, those who had received miraculous healings like you see on TV would be allowed to go to another check point, those who had things like Head aches and such healed were to be prayed for and sent to their seats.
Shortly before Benny's arrival a fellow Christian gave me a book titled, "Occult Invasion" written by Dave Hunt.
Some of the things I read therein caused me to choose not to go to that meeting. We had out of town guest who came especially to attend and they did. They said they were greatly blest. I started to wonder about Dave Hunt and his trustworthiness so I checked up on him.
It seems if we will dig long enough and deep enough we can find dirt on everyone. Do Christians make mistakes, yes. Do Christians sometimes go so far as to reject God and then come to their right mind and seek forgiveness, yes. Do we judge a person by other people’s words without checking their fruit, most times. Do we remember that Jesus forgave sins and embraced sinners, saying go and sin no more, most times not.
There are many preachers that I have heard who are generally great men of God, however in efforts to bring a point across they have twisted what the Bible says. I have difficulty here quite often, however my wife reminds me that God can use any and every person that is willing to be used. I have been to a Morris Cerello meeting, I was a brand new Christian, however I was reading my bible and I spotted his true spirit almost at once. He gave two and a half days worth of sermons, every sermon was identical, with emphasis on his plan to reach the world with the Gospel and he needed money to do it. I said he was a false prophet, my then pastor said he is an anointed man of God. Later after a few older Christians confronted that pastor with the falseness of Mr. Cerello that same pastor said he knew when he met him at the airport that something wasn't right about him.
We must check the fruit for ourselves, allow the Holy Spirit to lead us and DO NOT RELIE on another mans wisdom. God is in control, if we are walking with a desire to know His truth and will for our lives, He will make it clear.
I Love the commitment to truth you guys display through your post.
God Bless
