Aineo wrote:newseed, I was referring to Linda's exchange with the author of the website Omega posted. As to what Bible is the best, the NASB is still considered the best word-for-word translation on the market today. The NIV gained popularity because it translates concepts and is not a word-for-word translation and is therefore easier to read.
As to the KJV it contains a multitude of bad translations and it includes all the spurious verses that have been identified by comparing the Textus Receptus with older manuscripts not available at the time the KJV was done.
The Living Bible is a paraphrase and was actually written for children. It is not intended for serious Bible study however the Living Bible is the only Bible that accurately translates "testament" as "covenant".
Thanks Aineo. That is the second time that you were very firm about NASB. I know I have read from it before but I never really knew how much it meant to me until now. The book I have is 27 years old and I have been hanging onto it all that time and I am sure to hang on to it longer.
As for the KJV, I have yet to really look at those links you posted. I am incline to believe what you say but again, I have to trust the Lord to educate me on this. Otherwise, if I did not, then I would be a hypocrite because of my sig.
