In regards to the article writer's complaint about the so-called mistranslation of Mark 1:2-3...
Once again, let's take a look at the NIV notes.
The quotation that immediately follows (see first two poetry lines) comes from Mal 3:1 but is followed by one from Isa 40:3 (see note on Mt 27:9). Understanding the ministry of Jesus must begin with the OT. What Isaiah says about God applies to Jesus, his Son (v.1). The passages cited speak of the messenger, the desert and the Lord, each of which is stressed in vv.4-8.
Now, let's review what Mark 1:2-3 says.
It is written in Isaiah the prophet:
"I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way" --
"a voice of one calling in the desert,
"Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.'"
Malachi 3:1 says:
"See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come," says the LORD Almighty.
And Isaiah 40:3 states:
A voice of one calling:
"In the desert prepare
the way for the LORD;
make straight in the wilderness
a highway for our God.
This leads me to conclude that if the author had spent a little more time cross-referencing and a little less time bashing, he would have realized that the NIV is not Satanically inspired.
