Bible StudyIs the NIV for real???I am sure sooner or later, someone will come up with one. Hopefully to find a version that is before the late 1980's. So what does the word begotten means to you? If the meaning did not change, why was it put there in the first place? I checked the greek translation of this verse and it shows to be there. However, I am still ignorant about translating words from greek to english because I still don't know if the resources I have is from the earliest manuscripts. I use studylight.org but are they using the earliest? I welcome any resources that could enlighten me on what scholars use to produce Bibles. My apologies if you are offended. It was not my intent. Please do not feel that you are condemned because you are not. You are quite right and excellent quote from Romans. So can God use evil for good? I have seen it happen where a bad thing became good when all said and done. Well, you know me...I'm always asking questions. My concern is how many people really look at those footnotes? If the footnotes were to be removed, can the NIV still give the same meaning as the NASB? KJV? BBE? Is the NIV correct and the others are wrong or are they all correct? I can't imagine God would make it difficult to understand for anyone and since the KJV seems to be difficult to a number of people, maybe the NIV and other versions are God's way to bring the truth to different people with different levels of understanding? With all these questions, I find myself acting as though I am a thorn to a few. That's not my intent. Somebody give me some reliable resources and I will let the Holy Spirit answer my questions. Otherwise, just ignore me. Linda, thanks for sharing your views. It certainly blesses my heart! BIC, Eddie |
