ArchivedFalse Doctrine!I agree with newseed. There may not be explicit statements in Scripture that say you can't be saved after death, but I believe the principle is definitely implied.
Another thing to remember is the story of the rich man and Lazarus. After the rich man died and was sent to hades, he sounded pretty repentant and even wanted to go back to warn his family so that they wouldn't end up in hades also. But God didn't allow it. I think that's pretty good evidence that once we die, our fate is sealed. I would also think that if repentance after death is possible, then that would pretty much make hell a temporary place, because sooner or later everyone in hell is gonna come to their senses and realize that Christ is the only way. But the Bible teaches that hell is not temporary - it is eternal. All in all, the scriptural evidence supports no repentance after death much more than it support the idea of repenting after death. |
