ArchivedHomosexuality: QuestionsUnless I misunderstand what exactly you are trying to convey when you say, "equal access under the law for ALL Americans regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation," which may very well be possible, so I would appreciate if you would further explain this, opposition of gay marriages is a direct contradiction of such a "democracy." By outlawing gay marriages society is not only being overtly prejudice and immoral, but it is putting homosexuals at a legal disadvantage, spiting the Constitution's fourteenth amendment, which states that the laws of the U.S. pertain to every U.S. citizen and all are entitled to equal protection under the law, the theology of which you were just embracing. Opposing gay marriages is no different than opposing marriages between blacks and whites, which was legalized only fifty years ago. Gays have been paying taxes for years in support of the bill for the benefits heterosexuals are permitted but we are denied, and opposing laws that prevent gays from having equal civil rights and their pursuit to happiness through marriage is plainly bigoted. |
