Rejoicing and Praising Jesus Christ Forum! The irrationality of SalvationSure, I get ya. However, creating us with free will is hardly an errancy on God's part. God knew that some of His creation would choose to rebel against Him even before He created then, but that doesn't mean He was responsible for their rebellion. It's not like He forced them to rebel - He simply gave them the option to choose. If He didn't give them a choice, then there would be no free will, and no point to life, since the whole purpose of life is to glorify God. God is glorified when we choose to love and serve Him, but if we don't have any other choice but to serve Him, then that is not an expression of love on our part, it's simply doing the only thing we are capable of, and that's is not as glorifying to God as making a choice to love Him. You get me? The problem with that analogy is that you threw the rock at the window, and the fact that the rock doesn't have a choice in where it goes. If there was a window on your left and a pillow on your right, and you threw the rock in between the two, and the rock had a choice of turning left or right so that it strikes one of the two (and there are no outside forces at all like gravity or wind), then whose fault is it when the rock decides to turn left and break the window? Certainly not yours - you yourself said that you have no control over it once it leaves your hand. Bingo! Hence the need for a savior - Jesus Christ! I recognize the fact that I'm not perfect, but that God is, and the only way for Him to accept me (since He is holy and cannot accept anything less than perfection) is if I've had the perfect righteousness of Jesus applied to my life, and that's what salvation is. |
