Christian/Muslim ThreadsThe 99 names of God, another Persian belief taken by Islam
Why did it only take the Gospel a few years to be revealed? Why does the Gospels contain very few humanistic laws? Why does the Gospels teach us to love our enemies and that we must have only one wife and when divorcees remarry is likened to adultery, and the Quran takes you in the opposite direction? Why does the Quran regress so much from the Gospels? The core of Zoroastrian scriptures is the oldest of the writings, the Gathas. These are the writings of Zoroaster himself (supposedly). He was a moral teacher and his philospohy is recorded in the Gathas. The other things about guardian spirits in the stars guarding the heavens and men from devils and other astrology stuff is all beliefs that came about much later, 2000 years after Zoroaster lived during the Sassanian Persian empire. This was the empire that Umar conquered. There were alot of astrologers and Magi in Arabia too. It's no surprise parts of this very later corrupted Zoroastrianism are in Islam. I was also going to note that the As-Sirat bridge in Islam is a belief taken from he Persians who believed in the Chinwad bridge, the bridge of judgement. Evil people wouild fall off this bridge into hell which is under it. Heaven is on the other side. In fact, did you know that Muhammed's supposed "Miraj" was a fabrication based on a classic Persian story? In the story Arda Viraf , a Persian priest is taken by two angels into heaven and he speaks with God and he is given a sort of tour of the 7 heavens and even to hell. http://answering-islam.org.uk/Books/Tis ... /chap5.htm Here's something of interest, did you know that Houris are even something taken from Persian myths? [44.53] They shall wear of fine and thick silk, (sitting) face to face; [44.54] Thus (shall it be), and We will wed them with Houris pure, beautiful ones. [55.70] In them are goodly things, beautiful ones. [55.72] Pure ones confined to the pavilions. [55.74] Man has not touched them before them nor jinni. [55.76] Reclining on green cushions and beautiful carpets. Khorda Avesta 15:39. To him did the maids, whom no man had known, offer up a sacrifice on a golden throne, under golden beams and a golden canopy, with bundles of baresma and offerings of boiling milk. 6. And he who is of the righteous passes over the bridge, and a worldly similitude of the pleasantness of his path upon it is when thou shalt eagerly and unweariedly walk in the golden-colored spring, and with the gallant (hu-chir) body and sweet-scented blossom in the pleasant skin of that maiden spirit, the price of goodness.
