Creation of JCF Statement of FaithDo babies goto heaven? My point is that if if God had made it absolutely necessary for someone to grow up to be a certain age so they could understand salvation and make a choice for Christ, how just would it be for God to not allow some to grow up to that age? Your answer will be something to the effect of "well that's why God doesn't condemn babies." And my response is "where in Scripture do we see that God adds an exception clause to the phrase 'no man comes to the Father but by me'?" You say that the baby cannot work for salvation because it doesn't recognize salvation. And I agree. Does that mean, though, that if it did recognize salvation then it could ask (read, work) for it? My contention is that it doesn't matter how old you are - no one can work for salvation, and making a decision for Christ is a work. God is the one who decides who is saved because He has elected those whom He will unto it. Poor choice of words. You're right - cleanses, not covers A baby having salvation by default in the first place? *beads reads and re-reads and re-reads again to be sure of what he just read* Great, I'm glad we agree on that. Remind me again what Romans 3:23 says. Oh wait, I remember - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. I guess you can say that Jesus would not condemn the guiltless, but the Bible makes it very clear that there is no such thing as a guiltless person. And I have noticed that many Christians add things to the Bible, like the belief that babies get defaulted to heaven, so they don't have to believe that God would do something that they in their sinful human mind might think is cruel and unjust. I am entitled to my belief, and you are entitled to yours. Mine is what God has given to all mankind - a doctrine that doesn't pull punches and doesn't seek to do what's right in man's eyes, only God's; yours is what you claim God has given to you personally - a feel-good doctrine that gives you an easy way out of a situation that requires much discernment. Be really careful with that. God's not in the business of revelation anymore. That ended with John on Patmos. I know. That's the point. Knowing what sin is is irrelevant because we are all born with sin. If we're born with sin, then we're unrighteous. If we're unrighteous we don't get into heaven. A good verse to end on - it proves my point very well. God choses who He wants to have mercy on. But if you're trying to use this to say that God chooses to have mercy on all babies, then you are twisting the words and adding to Scripture. |
