Bill of Rights
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
My question is..........If the congress can not make any laws respecting the establishment of religion, then the congress can not pass laws that respect nor disrespect the religious practices of a religious organization. If some adventurous homosexual decides to start a gay religion, would not the congress have to pass laws that would remove the current laws that only respect the rights of heterosexuals. We must believe that the men that constructed the constitution were heterosexual, therefore they thought to only respect the rights of straight people to marry.Even before the constitution was written these men in their time were religious, many of them were. I am not viewing the writtings of the Constitution in the same light I would view the writtings of Apostle Paul. Many of the founding fathers owned slaves; and slavery was not to be practiced by any person calling themselves a Christian. In the same way there was a need for a reformation during the 16 th century, there is a need for one right now. Let's be real many of these guys that wrote the Constution owned slaves; therefore they were charleton "Christians"; even they knew being charletons that Christians could not promote gay marriage. In the same way whites of good will supported many of the social amendments to the Constitution that granted certain rights to African Americans, let Christians continue to preach against sin and homosexuality, but have a none of our business vote on the gay marriage issue.
